Healthful Hints

Taking Care Of You!

May 18th, 2008

In such a busy world of work, family, school, church, personal goals and aspiration…It can be difficult to set time aside to treat or pamper yourself. Here are some quick healthful hints on self-care and pampering….

1. Create a sacred space in your home where you can pray and/or meditate daily. Adorn this room with pretty colors, materials, plants, fountains, etc and have handy all that you will need to create a peaceful and tranquil place (i.e. incense, candles, music, water, herbs, and essential oils)

2. Do conscious breathing exercises daily for relaxation and stress release. Thank GOD we don’t have to think about breathing, but when we do and do it consciously, we strengthen and detoxify our lungs. You may choose to do long deep cleansing breaths or quick short fire breaths. There are many books on Breathing and Meditation so do some research to get more ideas if you need.

3. Identify and address you emotional needs. Too many of us ignore our mental and emotional health or just deal with our imbalances. Well there is no need, English or Australian Flower remedies are excellent for addressing emotional imbalances of fear, worry, depression, anger, sorrow…you name it. They are phenomenal and completely natural. Flower remedies are the essences of flowering plants and trees that heal the emotions. Contact our office for the self assessment questions, we would be happy to fax a copy to you.

4. Exercise often, daily if possible. Exercise helps to relieve stress, condition the body to function better, increase mobility, helps loose pounds and fat and more. Exercise is essential to a long healthy, stress-free life…so join a gym, walk in the park, or workout at home. The important thing is to KEEP IT MOVING!

5. Create a pampering or self-care ritual to do each week. You may decide to give yourself an herbal facial, soak in a warm salt bath, give yourself a manicure or pedicure, or treat your feet to an herbal foot bath. You may even choose to treat yourself to a spa or go on a retreat…whatever it is be sure to pamper yourself and take care of you just as you do everyone else.

6. Eat well…”Those who live to eat, die; those who eat to live, live” Choose health foods and snacks. Eat throughout the day, but eat small portions. Eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and if you eat meat, consume organic meats. Drink plenty of water (1/2 your weight in ounces up to 100 ounces) Avoid foods with artificial colors/flavors, sugar, hydrogenated oils, monosodium glutamate, and highly processed foods and those with a lot of ingredients.

7. SMILE, it makes you feel better by increasing the endorphins in your body. It will also make other happy to see a smiling face!
